چکیده

The semiconductor laboratory of the Max-Planck-Institutes for physics and for extraterrestrial physics develops and fabricates silicon sensors for scientific experiments in astronomy and highenergy physics, as well as for industrial applications. Among them are state-of-the-art detectors for X-ray imaging and spectroscopy. Their common features are the integration of the readout electronics on the detector chip and a fully depleted bulk with a non-structured thin entrance window, guaranteeing excellent energy resolution and high quantum efficiency over a wide energy range. Fully depleted and backside illuminated Charge Coupled Devices (pn-CCDs) have been developed and are operated successfully as focal plane detector of the XMM-Newton satellite. They have a sensitive area of 6 x 6 cm2 with a pixel size of 150 x 150 μm2, an equivalent noise charge of 4 el. rms. operating at 150 K, and an ultra-fast full frame readout time of 4.5 msec. The integrated detector-preamplifier structure DEPFET (DEpleted P-channel Field Effect Transistor) is the basic element of an Active Pixel Sensor (APS) with random accessible pixels, flexible readout modes, and the potential for repetitive non-destructive readout with subelectron resolution. Spectroscopy measurements of single DEPFET structures demonstrate an unequalled electronic noise of 2.2 el. rms at room temperature.

Unfolding X-ray spectrum in the diagnostic range using the Monte Carlo Code MCNP5

Introduction: Unfolding X-ray spectrum is a powerful tool for quality control of X-ray tubes. Generally, the acquisition of the X-ray spectrum in diagnostic radiology departments is complicated and difficult due to high photon flux. Measurement of x ray spectra using radiation detectors could not be performed accurately, because of the pulse pile up. Therefore, indirect methods...

A Comparative Study of Field Gamma-ray Spectrometry by NaI(Tl) and HPGe Detectors in the South Caspian Region

Natural radionuclides present in soil as well as certain anthropogenic radionuclides released to the environment are the major contributors to terrestrial outdoor exposures. In the assessment of human exposures from environmental radioactivity, besides the conventional method of soil and vegetation sampling combined with laboratory based analyses of environmental media, the other choice would b...

Two-dimensional imaging detectors for structural biology with X-ray lasers.

Our ability to harness the advances in microelectronics over the past decade(s) for X-ray detection has resulted in significant improvements in the state of the art. Biology with X-ray free-electron lasers present daunting detector challenges: all of the photons arrive at the same time, and individual high peak power pulses must be read out shot-by-shot. Direct X-ray detection in silicon pixel ...

High Biological performance of Silicon Substituted Nano Hydroxyapatite Synthesized in Simulated Body Fluid at 37°C

In this work, we report high biological performance of silicon substituted nano hydroxyapatite (nHA) prepared by immersion of calcium phosphate and sodium silicate as precursors in Simulated Body Fluid (SBF) solution for 24, 36, 48 and 72 hrs at 37°C. Characterization and chemical analysis of the synthesized powders were performed by Fourier transform, infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray powde...
